Milo
was our 2nd sheltie, he was born on 4th March 2005.
He was a handsome and very mischievous little fellow, it wasn't long
before he'd earned the nickname 'cheeky monkey'
Having been one
of five in a very lively litter, Milo terrorized 'chilled
out' Quito for the first few days after his arrival. He'd
ambush him from behind a chair or the door and hang from
his ruff at every opportunity. Within
a week though they adapted to each other and quickly became
inseparable, even curling up and going to sleep together.
A few weeks after
Milos' arrival we began to notice that he struggled for
breath when he ran or got over excited. After extensive
tests at the Royal Veterinary College he was found to have
severe heart problems (4 separate defects called Tetralogy
of Fallot or "blue babies" in humans) . We were
told it was unlikely
he'd
survive more than 6
months and as
his
condition worsened, he became exercise intolerant. Nevertheless
Milo was a little fighter and he was also more than happy
to spend his remaining time with us
on Dale's lap sleeping, having his tummy tickled or just
watching tv.
It broke our hearts when we had to say goodbye after he suffered a stroke.
He left us for the Rainbow Bridge in January 2006 at just
10
months
old.
"We'll
always remember you, Cheeky Monkey.
We
miss you."
