Quito

("Keats")

Originally we chose two names, one for a boy, one for a girl. Quito was the first boys name we chose. How did we find it? Simply by looking up places on the world map. We looked at geographical locations and as Dale had an interest in South American countries we researched that area and its main cities, resulting in our choice of Quito, the capital of Ecuador.

Milo

("Cheeky Monkey")

We struggled a little for Milo's name... His breeder originally called him Shadow as a puppy but the name didn't really fit his outgoing nature. We struggled to find a suitable geographical name that we could both agree on and Luds didn't want a children's name. When we found the name Milo by chance on the internet, we both liked it and at the time had never heard of it being used as a child's name. Around the house we ended up calling him 'cheeky monkey'

Bouba

("Bubbley")

As a puppy he was named Sonny. We chose Bouba as a name because Ludivine remembered it from a children's programme in France. Bouba was the name of a baby bear and looked very much like our little puppy.

Lizzie

("Drizz")

Lizzie arrived in our lives quicker than we thought and we hadn't really thought of a name. Her kennel name is Bizzie Lizzie and we thought it suited her so we kept it.

Luna

("Lune"/"Tunes" )

Dale found the name quite early on but it's only after many conversations that Ludivine finally noticed it. As her Kennel Name is Karmidale La Belle Etoile, it fits perfectly!

Fleurdemai

Finding our Kennel name took a lot of thought and research. We wanted something geographical and possibly French sounding if possible.Dale was also keen on something containing the word 'orchid'... After looking at place names in the Shetlands and the Lake District (where Dale goes walking) we came up with a few possibilities, but nothing really stood out. Then, one day, Dale was on the net researching South America (again) and when he typed in Venezuela the first thing to come up on screen was an orchid. It is the Venezualan national flower. In Spanish they called it 'Flora de Mayo' (mayflower). Ludivine simply translated it into French and we had our name 'Fleurdemai' .
